CVC's Visitor Survey Program

What is CVC's Visitor Survey Program?

Visitor surveys are conducted by Credit Valley Conservation to collect valuable information regarding our Conservation Area visitors. The Visitor Survey Program was implemented at Credit Valley Conservation to gain a greater understanding of how people view and utilize natural and recreational resources on Authority owned properties. Since people are a part of the Credit River watershed and the natural systems within it, it is important that various human dimensions of ecosystems are integrated into land management practices and policies. It is through planning tools such as the Visitor Survey Program that we are able to accomplish this.

Through the visitor surveys CVC is able to determine the demographic trends of our visitors, and we are able to gain an overall understanding of visitor experiences, needs and satisfaction levels. The information gathered through the Visitor Survey Program is an important indicator that helps to determine future property programming and management actions at CVCs’ Conservation Areas. The information gathered through the surveys also allows CVC staff to strive to meet visitors’ expectations and provide the best customer service possible.

Visitor surveys were collected most recently in 2002 and again over the summer of 2006 at CVCs’ operational Conservation Areas. From the visitor surveys conducted at Terra Cotta Conservation Area, Island Lake Conservation Area, Ken Whillans Resource Management Area and Belfountain Conservation Area some general findings can be noted.
