Credit Valley Conservation’s Private Landowner Tree Planting Service

To promote private land reforestation and stewardship, Credit Valley Conservation (CVC) offers a variety of inexpensive tree planting services and materials to eligible landowners. CVC’s experienced staff will assist private landowners in restoring and improving their property through the planting and supplying of trees, shrubs and seedlings.

Eligibility

Private landowners living within the boundaries of the Credit River watershed are eligible to participate. Please see below for land requirements.



Tree Planting Programs

     Program 1:
     Tree Planting Service

     Supply of Materials Only

  Land Requirements
  • Landowners must possess a minimum of 2 acres of land.
  • Landowners must possess a minimum of 1 acre of land.
 Service and Materials Provided
  • planting stock and materials including mulch mats and tree guards

  • delivery and installation of plant stock and materials

  • free site visit and technical support

  • customized planting plan for your property

  • planting stock and materials including mulch mats and tree guards are available for pickup at Terra Cotta nursery

  • free technical assistance

  Naturalization: Native Trees and Shrubs

  • hardwood and evergreen trees in pots - 60 cm and larger

  • potted wildlife shrubs - 40 cm and larger

  • field clump white cedar - 100-125 cm field clump

  • minimum order of 100 units of planting stock

  • hardwood and evergreen trees in pots- 60 cm and larger

  • potted wildlife shrubs - 40 cm and larger

  • field clump cedar - 100-125 cm and larger

  • minimum order of 20 units of planting stock

  Reforestation: Bare Root Seedlings

  • hardwood and evergreen bare root reforestation seedlings hand planted - 15 - 30 cm

  • minimum order of 2000 seedlings for machine planting/1000 for reforestation hand planting

  • hardwood and evergreen seedlings

  • minimum order of 200 seedlings, and 50 of each species

Terms and Conditions of the Tree Planting Service and Supply of Plant Material

  • Plant materials provided through the program are not intended for landscaping, and are not to be planted within 15 metres (50 ft.) of a residence (exceptions include windbreaks and fence rows).

  • All planting through the Private Planting Service must be carried out in accordance with an approved plan as developed by the landowner and CVC staff.

  • Landowners are responsible for identifying the location of all property lines, easements, and underground utilities before the time of planting.

  • 50% of all program fees and costs are payable prior to the installation of plant materials or at the time of pickup of plant materials from CVC.

  • All prices and product availability are subject to change without notice.
