Friends of the Credit Awards
Conservation of the Credit River Watershed depends on the contributions and support of many partners. Without the help of community groups, corporations, landowners and individual residents, Credit Valley Conservation will not achieve its goal of maintaining a healthy river. The Conservation Awards are presented on behalf of the CVC Board of Directors to recognize those who have made a significant contribution to the health of the Credit Watershed. Eligibility:
Nominations for the Conservation Awards are open to individuals, landowners, community groups, small businesses and corporations, municipalities and agencies who have made a significant contribution to the health of the Credit Watershed. The Young Conservationist Award is open to individuals or groups under the age of 25. Current board members or CVC staff are not eligible.
Eligible Projects
The "Friends of the Credit" Conservation Awards Program recognizes first time projects or those that have extended over multiple years.

Publications

Educational programs

Donation of conservation land or easement

Contribution towards purchase of conservation land or in support of an environmental project

Environmental policy or plan Advocacy for natural heritage protection Other environmental projects

Kirsten Burling & Audrey Oswald - Awards of Excellence (2005)
For outstanding environmental leadership and lifetime commitment to the protection and promotion of Rattray Marsh.
Stephanie Crocker- Young Conservationist Award (2005)
For her outstanding efforts as coordinator of the Peel Environmental Network , involvement in the development of the Peel Environmental Youth Alliance, and effort as an environmental organizer at the University of Toronto at Mississauga.
City of Mississauga - Community Services Department (2003)
Recognized for their extensive community volunteer and education programs that engage and inform citizens about the natural environment.
Bob Kuehnbaum (2003) Recognized for his long time volunteer efforts as Chair of Conservation for Izaak Walton FlyFishing Club, extensive committee work, and overall commitment to the Credit River.
Willow Park Ecology Centre Steering Committees (2002)
Recognized for their efforts to rehabilitate a former trailer park into a public space for nature study, ecological education and demonstration.
South Peel Naturalist's Club, Halton/North Peel Naturalist Club and the Upper Credit Field Naturalists (2001)
Recognized for their efforts in assisting CVC with the listing of all of the flora and fauna of the watershed. This work has formed a critical first step in protecting our natural heritage.
Du Pont Canada Inc. & Employees (1989)
Recognized for their effort to combat erosion by way of a generous donation and employee involvement in the Trees for Today and Tomorrow program.
Charles Sauriol and The Nature Conservancy of Canada (1986)
Recognized for providing the Conservation Authority the opportunity to acquire and preserve lands.
