CVC hosts its first fundraising Conservation Gala

Credit Valley Conservation Foundation together with its partners Trout Unlimited Canada and Conservation Halton Foundation hosted a Conservation Gala and Fundraising Dinner on Thursday, June 22, 2006. Attended by environmentalists, businessmen, community members, politicians and guests this event was a huge success. The dinner and auction event at the Oakville Conference Centre was held in support of our collective efforts to protect natural lands and waterways and provide environmental education opportunities in Halton and Peel. Thanks to the generosity of its donors, volunteers and guests, we raised over $50, 000. With a crowd of 300 guests, there were both live and silent auctions that helped drive up the amount that was raised. In addition there was a Birds of Prey Show and a champagne toast.

"We had an unbeatable combination," said Marolyn Morrison, Chair of the CVC Foundation and Mayor of the Town of Caledon . "Outstanding auction items from our sponsors and donors and the generous support from our dinner attendees. It's extremely gratifying to see the community's overwhelming response and commitment to the conservation and preservation of our watershed."

What made the event exciting were our guest auctioneers, Mayor Marolyn Morrison, Town of Caledon; Mayor Hazel McCallion, City of Mississauga; Mayor Gord Krantz, Milton; and Emil Kolb, Regional Chair of Peel Region who were both entertaining and inspiring.

Another first was garnering our Platinum, Gold, Silver and Bronze Sponsors for the 2006 Conservation Gala.
