Bring your own boat

In the spirit of adventure, paddlers are responsible for providing their own boat, paddles and safety equipment. We recommend that each boat have two competent paddlers, with one experienced paddler. No more than three adults are permitted per boat.

2) Will there be enough water in the river?

There will be enough water to navigate the river, even at the lowest historic levels.  We expect the water levels on June 1st to be safe for all levels of paddlers.  This is an opportunity for all paddlers to support conservation of a great river!

3) Do I need to be an experienced paddler?

At least one paddler per boat should have some basic experience in moving water.  The 18 & 25 km routes do include some swifts and some Class 1 rapids. Paddlers should be able to make turns around tight bends and occasional obstacles in moving water.  There will be one short portage around the Streetsville dam and possibly a second around an ice barrier, depending on conditions.

4) How will I get back to my car?

Buses will leave the Mississauga Canoe Club in the afternoon to shuttle you back to your car.  You will then need to return to the Canoe Club to retrieve your boat.
