Pat Mullin of Mississauga re-elected Chair of CVC Pat Mullin, Mississauga Councillor has been re-elected chair of Credit Valley Conservation. Councillor Mullin, who is one of the four representatives from the City of Mississauga on the 12 member CVC board, was re-elected for a fourth year as the Chair of the CVC Board of Directors.
After being re-elected Mullin said “It is critical that CVC plays a leading role in ensuring a healthy watershed for current residents and future generations. It is important that CVC continues working with its municipal partners, as well as the provincial and federal governments, to provide the resources necessary to protect the environment in the Credit watershed. Our watershed communities face significant challenges in coping with anticipated high population growth in the coming decades .”
Two vice-chairs were also re-elected at the board meeting. Bob Shirley, who represents the Towns of Mono, East-Garafraxa and Amaranth, was re-elected as vice-chair. He has been a CVC board member since 1980 and this is his fourth term as vice-chair. John Hutton, councillor for the City of Brampton , was elected as the second vice-chair. Hutton, a CVC board member for 22 years, also sits on the Region of Peel Agricultural Advisory Working Group. Councillor Hutton has been an active member of the Brampton Business Improvement Association (BIA) and is currently an active member of the Brampton Heritage Board.
The municipalities in the Credit River Watershed appoint members to the CVC Board of Directors. The full Membership Committee, or board, oversees the activities of the CVC and sets its budget.
Credit Valley Conservation has been working for over 50 years to protect the natural environment on behalf of 13 municipalities and 850,000 residents. CVC believes that watershed management must focus on protecting and enhancing the natural environment of the Credit River watershed for present and future generations.
