"Our lake has frozen over, the heated ice-huts and the augers are out, our skating rink is ready and it's time for some great winter fishing and skating", says Bill Lidster, Supervisor of Conservation Areas for Credit Valley Conservation.

"We now offer two locations for some great ice-fishing" he says. "In addition to our primary location at Island Lake Conservation Area in Orangeville. we have now opened our Ken Whillans Resource Management Area along Highway 10 in Caledon that has some excellent ice fishing to offer to all of the diehard fishing people who just can't get enough".

Island Lake's over 400 square acres of lake offers ice-fishing, a skating trail and rink, x-country skiing and snowshoeing. Ken Whillans 217 acres sits in the shadow of the Niagara Escarpment and provides access to the Caledon Trailway and the Credit River and offers rainbow trout and perch. Close to Brampton , Mississauga , Halton and a stone's throw from Caledon , both Island Lake and Ken Whillans are popular with both the serious angler and angling families.
