Rattray Marsh - Annual Spring Clean Up

Where: Any entrance to Rattray Marsh.

Time: Saturday 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

Description: Garbage clean-up. Bring Gloves and work clothes. There will be attendants at every entrance to direct you. If you arrive late, please proceed to the Bexhill Road Entrance.

Earthday Treeplanting and Litter Clean-up - Izaak Walton Fly Fishing Club, Trout Unlimited - Greg Clark Chapter, Town of Orangeville Sustainability Action Team and Credit Valley Conservation

Where: Amelia Street and Maywood Park, Bredin Parkway, Orangeville

Time: Saturday 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

Description: Celebrate Earthday in Orangeville!! This is a community tree planting event taking place at 2 sites along Lower Monora Creek in the Town of Orangeville – There are 500 trees to be planted so the more the merrier! Sligo Bridge Clean-up (TU/IWFFC/CVC)

Where: Meet at first bridge on McLaughlin Rd. north of Grange Sideroad; BBQ to follow.

Description: Participate in the annual Sligo Bridge garbage clean-up.  People should dress appropriately depending on the weather

3 Spring Cleaning at Riverwood

Where: MacEwan Barn, Riverwood; 4150 Riverwood Park Land (at Credit Woodlands)

Description: In partnership with the Mississauga Garden Council, Sierra Club of Canada, City of Mississauga and Credit Valley Conservation, you are invited to join us as we clean up Riverwood. 1000 Trees for Acton - P.O.W.E.R. Community Treeplanting Event

Where:  Meet us at the Acton Arena 415 Queen Street East (Highway 7), Acton

Time: Saturday 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

Description:  In Partnership with Credit Valley Conservation, Halton Peel Woodlands and Wildlife Stewardship Council, and Izaak Walton Fly Fishing Club, P.O.W.E.R. invites you to join their community treeplant extravaganza! We will be planting native trees and shrubs in a space behind the Arena - please wear covered-toed shoes, and bring gloves and shovels if you have them.  Also, join in on the rest of the activities that include native birds of prey expo, a nature hike, outdoor education experiments, fly-tying and so much more.

Peel Children’s Water Festival - Region of Peel

Where: Heart Lake Conservation Area - Brampton

Time: Saturday, 10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

Description: Since its inception in 1996, the Peel Children's Water Festival (PCWF) has provided an environmental education experience to over 40,000 Peel elementary school students. Through the use of more than 50 interactive activity centres, students in Grades 2 -5 have the opportunity to learn about water.

Stream Clean-Up and Garbage Kiosk Construction - Izaak Walton Fly Fishing Club, Trout Unlimited - Greg Clark Chapter, Orangeville Sustainability Action Team and Credit Valley Conservation

Where: Maywood Park, Bredin Parkway , Orangeville

Time: Saturday 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

Description:  Help us clean up Monora Creek and keep it clean!  Volunteers will be cleaning up litter in and along the creek and helping to construct a new garbage kiosk in the park.  Tools and gloves provided.  Please bring along waders or rubber boots if you have them, wear long pants and sturdy footwear.

In-stream Habitat Construction Workday- Trout Unlimited - Greg Clark Chapter, and Credit Valley Conservation

Where: McLaren Road, Caledon

Hillsburgh Pond Rocky Ramp Construction - Izaak Walton Fly Fishing Club and Credit Valley Conservation

Where: Meet at the Elora Cataract Trailway parking lot on Station Street in Hillsburgh (off Regional Road 25).

Time: Saturday 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. BBQ lunch to follow.

Description:  The creation and installation of a "rocky ramp" abutting a Hillsburgh pond to restore fish passage.  Only a few people are needed but strong backs are an asset. Please bring waders if you have them. Wear long pants and sturdy footwear.  Please dress for the weather.

Charles Sauriol Conservation Area - Installation of In-stream Sediment Traps

Where: Meet on the northside of Regional Road 124 at McLaren Road parking lot.

Time: Saturday 9:00 a.m. - 12:00pm. Barbeque lunch to follow.

Description:  Join the project partners and get your hands in the river to help build in-stream structures and enhance the habitat for fish in the Credit River in Charles Sauriol Conservation Area.  We will be hiking into the site and working in the water. Please bring waders if you have them. Wear long pants and sturdy footwear.  Please dress for the weather.

Streetsville Fishway Operation & Steelhead Transfer

Where: Streetsville Dam

Time: Operation based on weather. Check http://www.craa.on.ca for details.

Description: CRAA volunteers operate the ladder once or twice daily during peak runs during the Spring and during good conditions in late Fall to pass Steelhead (rainbow trout). Volunteers net the fish from the ladder, measure, weigh, tag, check for sex and fin clip and if the fish is ripe collect reproductive fluids for the hatchery.

Fisheries Monitoring - Electrofishing

Where: Throughout the watershed.

Time: See Electrofishing Schedule at http://www.creditvalleycons.com/bulletin/calendars/electrofishing.htm

Description: Help monitor the health of the river by adopting an electrofishing station near you. This monitoring technique is used to inventory fish species and populations. Call to confirm locations and dates. Bring your own chest waders or contact Credit Valley.
